Random Thoughts December 2020 Edition

Current Mood: quiet
Currently Watching: Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural

Been feeling quiet lately, especially online. I've drifted away from the desire to post daily or even weekly on most networking sites. Still like seeing friend and family posts and will log on to read a few of them each day even if I'm not devoting the same amount of time to it. I've met some truly interesting and creative people along the way and have chatted with a handful I would like to cross paths with in the future should the opportunity ever arise. Yet I cannot seem to force myself to stare at a facebook or twitter feed for hours these days. It feels like a poor substitute for real interactions and I figured those who wish to talk probably know how to get in touch by now.

I managed to binge-watch my way through the entire Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime series in a couple of days. Did not expect to find it as entertaining as I did but could not pause them for very long. Now I'm starting their supernatural series from the beginning to end. Most crime documentaries are quite serious because of the content matter but this is just giggling through facts and stories of monsters, mobsters, spies, murder, ghosts and mayhem. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

I like to know when the new and full moons are each month. Was looking up the exact time for the new moon this month and stumbled across some horoscope sites talking about how December's new moon would also be an eclipse and that means the power of the moon would be threefold. I hardly ever look at these sorts of websites or books anymore and years ago mostly did so for fun. Still, the moon has such power over our world and tides that it is fun to imagine it could have power over other things as well.

I still have my small rituals when feeling like a little random inspiration from the universe. Tarot cards when I know a big change is approaching. Wearing certain stones and items on pendants on certain days. Speaking to animals and nature. Some patterns are hard to abandon and still somewhat comforting even if the belief in magical things has faded greatly over the years. The world is a living thing and maybe the only magic that exists here is life itself. We're moving and breathing on the surface of a giant rock floating around in space. That is pretty fucking magical.

Rain was predicted for today but it's snowing instead. No more sundresses, it's hot chocolate and sweater season now.

A apple slicer breaking in the middle of the job made a cute Hellraiser-like snack image. "We'll tear your fruit apart!"
